Selling E-books is a waste of time

I really think selling E-books is a monumental waste of time! I get plenty of traffic to my website but no purchases and it's a good subject- weightloss. I think all they have to do is read the info. and print it so they don't have to buy anything. When I signed up I was told my first sale would cover the initial cost but it aint happening! I think a lot of these home business ideas are the same-a waste of time and money. If anyone can tell me of a home business that really pays off I'm listening!
